May you be well

With great respect and love,

Sandra xxx

I am a yoga teacher in Islington, North London. I teach general yoga, pregnancy and postnatal yoga classes at my studio in Tufnell Park. I pay close attention to alignment, the uniqueness of the person I teach and I focus on integrating the body and the mind through the breath. Yoga after all is a form of awareness.

My yoga journey started when I used yoga as a healing practice to recover from an illness (Rheumatoid Arthritis) after the birth of my son. Yoga has helped me regain and maintain my mobility, strength and joint stability. I believe in its therapeutic potential and for bringing wholeness  and balance in mind and body. This belief is the inspiration that guides my teaching.

I am passionate on how yoga can benefit all women at all stages of their lives. I meet many women through pregnancy, postnatal (Mum & Baby) classes and then many stay on for the general yoga classes I offer. I also do Partner Workshops for Birth and I teach many private sessions tailored to you. These days I teach mostly at my home studio in Tufnell Park, N7 or at Moon, a Women's Health Centre in Dartmouth Park, NW5 (https://www.mwhealth.co.uk/). But I have taught previously at Room to Heal, a charity for survivors of torture and Chair Yoga at Age UK, Hampstead, NW3.

I trained as a teacher with Yogacampus at the Life Centre, Islington (2011) and I am accredited as Senior Yoga Teacher by Yoga Alliance. I am certified to teach Restorative Yoga by Judith Lasaster.

I completed my doula training with Dr. Michel Odent & Liliana Lammers who  are pioneers of the doula movement and homebirth in the UK. I trained with Suzanne Yates to offer maternity Shiatsu (pre and postnatal) and Development Baby Massage with Peter Walker. I incorporate Hypno Yoga for Birth, Spinning Babies® and Mindful Rebozo Techniques in the partner workshops I run for expecting couples.

I offer yoga sessions for anyone living with cancer, illness or injury.

Specialising in core and pelvic health, I am a Certified Body Ready Method® Pro and a Restore Your Core ® teacher. In 2023, I am continuing my movement education with Dr Sarah Duvall's pregnancy and postpartum course to support women in the gap between finishing rehab/physio and returning to training & full exercise. Pelvic floor and core issues like diastasis recti, leaking and prolapse while common are not normal (in that they can be addressed so that we return to moving confidently through life).

As a certified Spinning Babies® Parent Educator, I offer online and in person Spinning Babies® Birth Preparation Classes. Spinning Babies® is a wonderful approach that combines an understanding of birth anatomy, bio mechanics and alignment to promote physiology before force to support births. The SB® Birth Preparation Classes will show partners how to better support their pregnant partners, to offer comfort in pregnancy and an easier birth through Optimal Foetal Positioning.

Do get in touch, I look forward to our paths crossing.

Welcome
